yesterday i went running with mom and marlee.
i've been sick again this week but i was determined to do it.
three miles out the path we were on ended so we were trying to decide where to go.
i had a melt down.
i felt awful.
and i was so defeated.
mom said, "it's okay-we can just walk back."
i cried for the next mile.
i was so frustrated that i haven't done this training as much as i'd like.
that i don't have time to do it all.
and then my body isn't able to do the things i want it to.
my crying turned into being about stressing over school.
it just continued until i felt better.
although i was so frustrated, it was just what i needed.
i felt so much better afterwards...
not necesarily in the running sense.
but i know that i'll still be able to reach the goals i've set.
it will all be okay in the end.
we signed up to do a half marathon. so now we're doing it. and blogging about it.

Slacking...
So I really, really try to run as much as I can. Unfortunately, that's not very often. I feel like I have almost lost the ability to run. However, I've been going every morning at 5:45 so I am determined to make this work. I will cross that finish line 1 month and 1 day from today... it just might not be as fast as I had hoped for.

i'm still running.
just wanted to inform you all the i'm still running.
last saturday was 8 miles.
i was literally dragged by the arm to keep going the last mile.
but hey, i finished.
it's amazing what you can do if you set your mind to it!

recent events.
saturday i ran 7 miles.
there was a lovely little break in the middle.
the best part though was probably about mile 5, a bug flew straight into my eye.
here's me and my friend libby standing on the corner of a very busy road trying to get the bug out for a solid 5 minutes.
it was so funny.
and it hurt so bad.
last night we ran up stairs.
it was hard.
but i felt good after.
a month and a half left....

something about long legs.
last night i did 4.5 miles.
i brought my cousin along.
at one point he said,
"i'm not doing this to judge your pace but just watch..."
as i was running his legs were long enough that he could speed walk and keep the same pace.
[he is like 6 foot 4.]
but still, kind of embarrassing.
i felt great though.
hopefully long run tomorrow goes gooooooood.

halfway there.
i DID it.
i ran (and walked) 6 miles.
boo yah.
it was not fast.
it was not good.
but i did it.
here is what kayla said about it yesterday in a text:
"that was 57.30 minutes of hell."
i love that she is so honest.
i hope i can survive doubling that run!

note to self:
when you know not to eat the cobbler right before you go running, stick to your gut feeling [literally] and don't eat it.
...they give you side aches.
tonight i went 3 miles and it felt good [minus the side aches].
i'm starting to enjoy this running thing.

Sometimes running stinks...
BUT NOT TODAY!! Today was a great run! My gps watch was dead so I just decided to just go for it. I have no clue how long it took me, but that doesn't really matter, right? I think I did a little over 3.5 miles but again... I'm not too sure. It still was a fun run though! Bring on six miles baby.

long runs.
after a not so good week of running,
[i hate sick.]
i finished strong with a 4.5 mile run.
i went with roommate marlee and we finished in about 42 minutes.
it felt great.
and you know what i realized?
if i just stick to this long runs won't be as scary as i thought...
here's to a better training week next week!
flashback of the day:
in middle school kayla and i walked to walmart like twice a week.
we always came home with pet goldfish.
and kayla got flaming hot cheetos.
then we would watch "what not to wear."
man...we lived it up then.

Accomplished!
I did it, I did it, I did it!!! Wow that was the best run EVER! I successfully did 5 miles and it wasn't even too hard until the very end. I hit 5 miles at the beginning of my neighborhood and then began to walk crawl towards home. This goal is finally starting to look obtainable. My Life Rocks!
P.S. 48:10

the shoes.
you know how shoes are usually important to girls?
[ask kayla. she's got a million...haha]
well, i never really loved running shoes until i got these guys.
they totally rock.
just like the guy at the "salt lake running company" told me they would.
they give me that nice "slipper" feel.
apparently, just like any good running shoes should.
THESE are the shoes that are taking me across the finish line.
...that's kind of a big deal.

5k Continued...
Oh my heck I had SO much fun with this run! I'm not going to lie, that hill Ashley was talking about.... I hated it! After that the run was so fun! I came in at 27:29 and Ashley at 29:19. I feel like that is pretty good! Out of 40 people in our age group we got 5th and 9th, not bad for rookies. At the end the only thing I could think about is going another 10 miles, could be hard haha
5k.done.
so we ran a 5k.
kayla rocked it.
i got my goal.
felt i could've done better, but hey, it's all good.
they started out with a big hill.
really big hill.
i don't love hills.
and once we got to the top we were right by my house.
i was tempted to run home and back into bed.
here's our age group:
1st- marlee
5th- kayla
6th- libby
9th- me (time: 29.19)
my mom got 2nd for her age group and my dad rocked it too after being sick for two days.
next year i'm winning a medal at the midnight moon run...just you wait.
killer hill, i'm killing you.
kp will post pics soon.
and i love running to justin bieber.
"somebody to love."

the after fhe party.
i ran with my dad tonight, as we do quite a bit now.
the funny thing is we both never really liked running.
but now it's what we do together.
we went 2.9 miles tonight.
.....
i'm actually starting to like this running thing.
.....
if anyone has some good pump up music-send it my way!

Week 2 Day 1
2 Miles in 18:08 not too bad. This morning was kind of a weird run, at the end I felt like I couldn't take another step. I think I had my brain set on the fact that I only had to run two miles and so right when my watch beeped two miles I was done. I also ran a little faster than a ten minute mile today which I don't normally do.
-Kayla
P.S. Ashley, I like running with you better! Lol

Yeah for blogging with my Best Friend!
Pretty much all I have to say for right now is that we are going to rock this run! I'm definitely excited to train for this with Ashley! Out of all of our crazy ideas, this one is going to be the best.
-Kayla
-Kayla
the crazy ideas.
we decided we're putting funny stories. memories. etc. on here too.
mostly for your entertainment.
and our remembrance.
so kayla and i were always trying to come up with ideas how we could make a few extra bucks or get something we really wanted.
we ALWAYS had a new buiness idea to try.
and so far-we've done few of them.
list of some of the crazy ideas we've had:
-raise money to share a cell phone when we were 14.
we both wanted one so we thought if we had the money we'd just get pre-paid minutes.
and then we'd trade off every other week...
-raise money to buy a fake wedding dress from DI to take fake engagement pictures
-cupcake store
-photography business (this started up a little...)
-painting curbs. hahaha
i think we even bought stencils?
-clothing alteration business.
this one is still legit. i want to do it.
-we were always saving our change for this or for that.
one time we saved our change and had 50 dollars.
we went to shopko and spent it all.
we bought fake nails, matching purses, shirts, and sunglasses.
(please note. we were twelve.)
and then we felt so bad we made my mom return it all.
the thing about kayla and i is she is usually the brains behind the operation.
she throws out ideas and i jump on the bandwagon.
unfortunately we haven't gotten to the point of consistently putting them into action.
except for now.
yeah for running.
up for week 2.

the beginning.
Here's the thing.
Me and Kayla have been bffs since 7th grade.
exhibit A.
We've had lots of crazy ideas....
[believe me.]
Most of them we don't follow through on.
BUT we are here to prove that we can,
and will,
follow through.
A couple months ago KP came to me and said,
...i didn't really understand what i was getting myself into.

A couple months ago KP came to me and said,
"Ashley, let's sign up for a half marathon."
Me going along with her plans like i normally do said,
"Yeah! That sounds awesome!"...i didn't really understand what i was getting myself into.
so.
we're running the Snow Canyon half marathon on November 6th.and here's our blog dedicated to the whole training process.
we have one week down. eleven more to go.
and we're really doing this thing...
p.s. this text just came in.
"two things. one, i just got uber excited for running.
two, my underwear is inside out, judge me."
i'm so excited for this experience.
